Up 19 Emerald, Lake Maraboon and then Blackwater Prev Next Slideshow

After Clermont we reached Emerald (on the Tropic of Capricorn) at the junction of the Great Inland Way and the Capricorn Highway. After buying a new battery for the boat we were ready for a few days at Lake Maraboon (Fairbairn Dam, named after David Fairbairn, Minister for National Development). Maraboon is Aboriginal for "where the black ducks fly" and we were certainly treated to the sight of many water birds. After Emerald and Maraboon, we travelled through the major coal mining area of Blackwater on our way to Rockhampton
