Up The Devils Marbles Prev Next Slideshow

About 100km south of Tennant Creek is the Devils Marbles or Karlu Karlu which literally translates as 'round boulders'. The area is a large group of gigantic rounded granite boulders, many of which are precariously balanced on top of one another. We were just stunned by the grandeur of the whole area and it isn't hard to understand why the Aborigines consider this to be sacred ground. It isn't easy for our pictures to convey the immensity of some of these piles of boulders, but some of them, perched on top of others could easily weigh hundreds of tons.
