Gili Air, where we had 5 days
is very laid-back with no motor vehicles, lovely clear water and
nice beaches; Plenty of night life is available there with many
beach bars right on the sand.

Lombok is an island in West
Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. It forms part of the chain of the
Lesser Sunda Islands, with the Lombok Strait separating it from Bali
to the west and the Alas Strait between it and Sumbawa to the east.
Unlike Bali, Lombok is predominately Muslim with their less
exhibitionist behaviours. Alcohol is also less freely available.

Nusa Dua is on the east coast
of Bukit Peninsula. It is a development area of upmarket hotels with
security checks at the gates and private beaches and is a huge
contrast from other parts of Bali; not a lot different to the Gold
Coast but without the high rise - we had a lazy 8 nights here, which
was fortunate because we were both a bit unwell.

The Ubud Monkey Forest is a
nature reserve and Hindu temple complex in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.
Jatiluwih rice terraces pretty much cover the region of the namesake
upland village in West Bali, most famous for its landscapes that are
both dramatic and truly exotic. Jatiluwih rice terraces comprises
over 600Ha of rice fields that follow the flowing hillside
topography of the Batukaru mountain range.

Mount Batur is a popular
trekking destination along with the higher Mt Agung. Starting at
2am, obviously Joy isn't interested in getting up unless the house
is on fire

the Museum Puri Lukisan, in Ubud; titled "The heritage of
Balinese art", much of which depicts the Balinese mythology,
religion, their gods, and daily life such as farming and fishing

Ubud, a town in central Bali,
is far removed from the beach party scene in Kuta, and is regarded
as the cultural centre of Bali. It is famous as an arts and crafts
hub, and much of the town and nearby villages seems to consist of
artists' workshops and galleries.

Our next stay (number 2) is at
the Centra Taum villas, Seminyak. We spent the time in and around
Seminyak and Petitenget, with a very nice relaxing massage at the
resort. We again engaged our driver (Made) for a full day tour.
